F40 Motorsports is proud to offer this like new 2002 Ford Thunderbird. After a five year hiatus, an automotive icon was reborn in the 2002 Thunderbird. This would be the first two seater since 1957 and the first convertible since 1966. The thought process around the new design was to capture the feeling and excitement of T-Birds of the past. The design borrows cues from the original ’55 to ’57 “Baby Birds” and the ’61 to ’63 “Bullet Birds”… from the egg crate grille to the “afterburner” style tail lights. The car would go on to win Motor Trends “Car of the Year for 2002”, Motor Weeks “Best Convertible for 2002” and received numerous accolades for interior design.
This T-Bird is a one owner immaculate example of this automotive legend and has won over 30 trophies from cruise nights and car shows throughout New England and New York. It is finished in the 2002 model year only color of Thunderbird Blue with matching removable hard top with porthole windows. The car has been garaged since new, never seen winter exposure and was driven in the rain only three times in 16 years (even has the original windshield wiper blades). All body panels are in mint condition and retain their factory applied VIN labels. The entire front bumper cover, leading edge of the hood and the areas where the hard top sits have been covered with Xpel clear bra since the car was new. The wheels were upgraded to the “007” style. The convertible top and boot are in excellent condition (also included is a custom made leather soft boot).
The interior is black Nudo leather with the “Partial Accent” option of blue applied to the top of the steering wheel, the shifter knob and the seat inserts. Of all the 2002 Thunderbirds built, only 826 received this color configuration. As an added feature, blue leather was stitched into the factory headrests. The interior is in mint condition, no wear to the leather seats, no scuff marks on the rockers or the kick panels. Another added feature of an aluminum dash kit was applied to the center stack, armrests and shifter bezel to compliment the factory brushed aluminum accents.
All 2002 Thunderbirds gets their power from a 3.9L V8 which was factory rated at 252hp and 261ft lbs. of torque mated to a five speed automatic transmission. When measured on a dyno, the rear wheel figures were closer to 208hp and 221ft lbs. This car has been upgraded with a custom cold air intake, an SCT tune and a Borla cat-back exhaust system. With these upgrades the car is now at 239hp and 257ft lbs. at the rear wheels. Included in the sale of this car are numerous press release kits and collectible documentation as shown.
